Pastor Nominating Committee

 

The Pastor Nominating Committee comprises a diverse set of individuals who represent the facets of our congregation. They range in age from young adult to senior citizens and are about equally female and male. One member grew up in our church, one is a recent new member, and the others have been members for periods ranging from five to thirty five years. Most are elders and three are currently serving on Session. Several members have been employed by First Presbyterian in such capacities as organist, parish visitation coordinator, Christian Education Coordinator, and child care center director. One is a member of the Corporate Committee and is regularly involved in church building maintenance. Several lend their voices to our choir. Two have filled the pulpit on occasion.

PNC members serve in various community mission activities. One spent five months in Katrina Relief in the Gulf. Another chairs the local food pantry. Several have taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. They serve on the Board of our local theatre group, sing in the Wellsboro Men's Chorus, and work with the organization that provides employment for people with developmental disabilities. Our group includes a retired oral surgeon, Methodist pastor, and Head Start Director.

Our differences bring a rich diversity of opinion to the task of calling a new pastor. Each of our voices speaks for many others in the congregation. We do not always agree, but our voices blend with respect and harmony.
